Since 2004 LCHS has worked with Thrivent Builds and the Lake County Habitat for Humanity to build affordable housing for qualifying Lake County residents. Each year we have committed to provide work crews (over 500 volunteer work hours) and financial donations to build the homes. We typically commit to staff 6 work days (with a crew of 12 volunteers) throughout the building season (May-October). We also commit to raise donations throughout that time to help purchase building materials for the houses being built. During the "building season" you can find our HfH work day sign up in the Narthex. Work day volunteers must be 16 years old (any under 18 must have a signed parental consent form). You will also find our fundraising model home on display in the Narthex during the building season. Here you can make donations to purchase needed building materials and help us reach our financial support commitment. Please contact the Human Needs council member or our HfH Congregation Champion. If you are interested in working on other days Lake County Habitat for Humanity will gladly take volunteers throughout the year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8:00am till 4:00pm. Just call or e-mail Cassie at Lake County Habitat for Humanity (847) 623-1020 ext. 115 cassie@habitatlc.org to schedule your work day. Remember to sign in at the building site as a Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit volunteer.
