In mid-December, 1996, Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit became the 13th of 22 Illinois ELCA congregations to have a home page on the internet. Our site has since grown to include dozens of pages and hundreds of graphics, movies and photos.
So why does Holy Spirit need a home page? Think about the possibilities:—a transferee from another part of the country is looking for a new church to call home. From any desktop computer with world wide web (www) access, categorized information about our church is just the click of a mouse away. Maps with instructions to find Holy Spirit, and our Pastors' e-mail address make it simple to make initial contact.—several members of our congregation, recovering from illness or surgery, quickly summon up full text of the current month's newsletter—several days or even weeks before it arrives in the mail!—college students, longing for a few familiar words and inspirational thoughts from home, tap into the web from a university workstation, looking up e-mail addresses of other students from the congregation, now separated by distance and the school year.
