WHAT IS THE ENDOWMENT COMMITTEE?
The Endowment Committee is appointed by the church council. This committee exists
for the future of the congregation and the mission of the church. By its charter,
the Endowment Committee is to encourage the congregation to consider ways of building
for the future of the congregation through bequests and gifts to this special
fund. The fund's base goal is to establish $100,000 from which awards may then
be made to support a variety of education, mission and service programs. Since
this has been a major building year for the congregation, the committee has embraced
its role serving the congregation and simply reminding members of the Endowment
Funds existence. If you are reviewing your will or considering future directed
programs, we encourage you to remember your church and the endowment fund. If
you have any questions, please see a committee member. Contributions to the Endowment
Fund are investments in the future of the church.
The Endowment Fund is intended to provide support for furthering the proclamation
of the Gospel in programs and activities not included in the operating budget
of the congregation. It is expected that future disbursements from the Endowment
Fund will support scholarships to Lutheran seminaries and colleges, new mission
congregations and inner city ministries. Efforts will continue to be made to inform
the congregation about the Endowment Fund and ways this part of our church relates
to financial and estate planning. The Endowment Fund and Committee present a most
appropriate way to extend your support of the church beyond our immediate congregation
and on into the future.
Why do we need endowments?
To enhance the benevolent mission of the church.
Outreach can be accomplished by granting:
-Scholarships
-Sponsoring seminary students
-Outreach to those in need
-Missions of the ELCA
-Support non-budgeted capital improvements
-Other programs of the Church
Who can give an endowment?
Anyone can give an Endowment through:
-Wills
-Trusts
-Life Insurance
-Lifetime Gifts such as property or stocks
-Gifting
When can we give an endowment?
Gifts of any amount are welcomed at any time!
