ELCA’s Guardian Angels Program —
A component of the ELCA’s Accompanying Migrant Minors with Protection, Advocacy Representation and Opportunities (AMMPARO) initiative, the Guardian Angels Program provides volunteers who offer a spiritual and physical presence to unaccompanied migrant children and families through their immigration court process. The program is the visible expression of our church’s ministry of presence in the lives of women, men and children who are facing the unknown. The program also seeks to build community as church together and church for the sake of the world.
The Guardian Angels volunteers who accompany unaccompanied migrant children and single-parent families through their immigration court process, offer:

SPIRITUAL ACCOMPANIMENT – to provide spiritual support for them at court hearings

PHYSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT – to be a visible sign of the church in immigration court

COURT WATCH – to be present in court

RESOURCE SHARING – If requested, to provide information about local resources to assist migrants in their transition to life in the United States and to encourage families to obtain legal counsel.
COOL Food Pantry —
C.O.O.L. food pantry supplies four days of emergency food to clients referred by area agencies and churches. C.O.O.L. also assists those in need with transitional housing as they begin the journey back to self-sufficiency.
